This Hurt Like Hell!

In this new video blog, I share the most fearful thing I have ever done in life or ministry. Maybe you have had the same experience. If so, I would like to hear your thoughts. Watch the video and then share your heart in the comments section of the blog.

I really needed that this morning.  There is a stirring in my spirit.

Wow….someone else feels the same way we do. We served in the ministry all our married life…and before that. It got to where I felt like I was in bondage….that I was accountable for everything I said or did to the congregation. I am only accountable to God. My heart can not put God into a box 3 days a week. My family and I struggle just like everyone else. Now, we are retired because of health problems. However, just because we don’t put God in a box and take Him out 3 times a week for all to see does not mean that we don’t love Him or that we don’t try to take care of the needs of others. I’ve seen my husband go to places and talk to people about Jesus that the church would never touch. So that’s our ministry now. After all, isn’t that what Jesus taught us to do? It’s where the rubber meets the road. Tell people about Jesus. Tell them He loves them and He has a plan for them. To me having one night of visitation and VBS is all well and good. But there are people that no one will ever reach through a church “program.” We can look so good on the outside that those who are lost are fearful of us so much so, that they wouldn’t come to our churches because of the way we all dress up on Sunday’s! Keith and I have often threatened to show up on Easter Sunday in T-shirts and bluejeans. I’ve never had such peace in my life as I do now.  I know we need Church. But church as defined as “each other.” Not a time or place every week. We need fellowship…….now there’s a word someone could and should preach a sermon on. My only problem with church is….who is there that you would trust?
    No one but Jesus.

I think the major problem  - that you and I have both faced – is that we often become a hostage to the ministry rather that living out the missional aspect of the calling.

I am glad that you guys broke free from being ministry hostages. There is not place for that in His kingdom. Romans 14:17 tells us the aspects of the kingdom – Righteousness, Peace, and Joy.

If what we are living in majority of the time is not born out of those three attributes above, we are missing the life that He has for us.

Thanks for taking time to share your heart. Please stay in touch.

I own several traditional businesses and six months ago I was approached with something that for me was completely out of the box. I stepped out and God has prospered me more than I could imagine. I closed one business  this past month and not only have I prospered  but I have more time to do things with and for others. If fear were not part of the component faith would not be necessary, and He honors faith.
